The beginners have to struggle in order to search for the right path and appropriate opportunity in order to rise up. Their problems do not end up here. In the former case, artists are able to make their tracks available online, but the latter face monetary issues and are not able to upload their songs online. This creates a substantial amount of gap between the availability of the musical tracks.

In today’s generation, everyone is thriving on online music, isn’t it? Due to the monetary issues, the musicians are not even able to provide their works online. So the musicians who don’t have a backing have to bear the consequences. It not only compels them to settle for less, but the public is not able to groove on their tracks and most of their work is going unnoticed.

There is no doubt that technology has made our lives easier and stress-free. This has made it easy for people to have access to music. The ugly side of this is that the distributors need to pay a massive amount to the third-party platforms in order to increase their sales. 

The musicians who are not able to pay this massive price search for some other approaches to make their works noticeable. This is a significant issue that is arising in the music industry.

So, audiences, let’s promise ourselves not to adopt any illegal exercise that will hamper the growth of the musicians and the rising stars.

When we talk in terms of musicians, it can serve as an advantage as it saves them from spending extra on marketing efforts. It is a fact which we all will agree, right? And, ok, social media serves as an excellent deal for the artists, and yes, it can also be a source of launching the rising stars.

This has been executed, and you can look at multiple illustrations that can serve as an example for many beginning artists. Social media can make the musician’s internet renowned. It comes with a solid social media following, and one can have infinite fans. 

People are listening to your music; you are the topic of discussion and the talk of the town. You might have earned a name, but yes you are not going to reach anything from your music. This is a significant concern as, ultimately, everyone wants to make it.

The gloomy truth behind this is that people might share your videos, but yes, what is the guarantee that they will spend to purchase tickets for your show? The musicians can’t deny the fact that whether you have 5 00,000 fans followers or more, you can’t be sure that when you organize a show, your 1,000 tickets will be sold or not.

It’s vital to get familiarized that social media can only be a marketing tool, but to earn, you need to adopt proper rights and means. The Internet can only be a medium of promotion, and no doubt will grow your fan following. 

Musicians are actually trapped on whether to do social media promotion, do offline advertising, or influence the audiences to attend the shows. This is a sad reality that the musicians face, and they are concerned about how to manage all the chaos.

Taking our series further, we are out with our new post. As we all know, the “new” music industry is a fantastic setup for musicians to grow and rise. The old barriers have disappeared, and new technology has come up. Thanks to digitization. The music industry, once sidelined, has now gone all level up than ever before. The transition from traditional practice to new technology may have solved many problems, but it has created some new ones that are genuinely affecting the music industry.

“Live Music”- Ask anyone about this, and it is a booster for them. I think you all will agree with me. Live Music has overpowered, and it has wholly swiped off the music industry. It would not be correct to say entirely, so let’s say to some level. For musicians, live music has become a great source of their income. As musicians also enjoy the music, and so do their audiences. The maximum shows of live music are mostly sold off.

However, a significant demerit that arises here is playing live costs considerable for the musicians. It costs heavily on their pockets. Yes, indeed, it does. Performing live at the local venue might be as simple as having a piece of cake. But it takes a lot of courage to act on roads, organize tours, and travel to different places.

Now, touring involves money. It’s obvious. Touring and traveling involve various factors. Let’s shed light on some of them. If the musicians organize a day’s event, then will an ample number of audience will come to witness the show? Will the people be so willing that they can take an off from their work? There is a big question mark.

The next challenge that arises is if the musical band is organizing shows at various places, then there will be venue expenses, promotion expenses, and miscellaneous other expenses. If we overshadow the costs, then the main point is that it might be possible that they may be earning great performance at home, but it might happen that they are starting from scratch in the foreign markets. Who knows? This might be a significant concern for them.

DIY or Pick Your Team- Part 6

We hope our readers are all pumped up to read our further posts. We have talked about music musicians in our previous posts. This post is diverted to the people revolving around the musicians i.e. their team.

Sometimes it’s a beautiful thing that musicians are earning without signing with a record label. That doesn’t mean that the work done by the brands is useless. In simple terms, it means that a musician is free and of his own will to choose the people who must do their work and who should not. In other words, an artist can select his team members, incorporating managers, PR, agents, and many more.

There are two issues that arise before the musicians. One is that before making a team, the artist must ask himself- Do I need a team? And after answering, the artist can make his decision. The team will cost the artist, so keeping that in mind, the artist must step forward. When talking of PR, the musician needs to pay for the campaign without any results, even if the drive doesn’t work. 

Other members need a share of the earnings of musicians. And they are correct. After all, they are working for the artist. The second is when you are unknown, it’s not always easy to attract attention from the team members.

One alternative for musicians is to give friends a chance to establish their music business careers by adopting some of their work. The other option is to adopt a DIY approach, i.e., “Do It Yourself”. This is a big step because the musician has to be a “One Man Army”. Yes, it will divert the artist in some way from the music, but it can serve as a time gap if the musician has enough time to manage his career till the time the artist is not able to attract more significant attention.

It’s ultimately the musician’s take on what strategy to adopt. The challenges and issues are many, but one has to deal with them. We will be elaborating further on the music market with our coming post.

Smartphones- A Boon or a Curse?- Part 7

Smartphones have become an integral part of everyone’s life nowadays. Most people listen to music on their phones. Listeners can hear millions of songs online with a mobile device and an internet connection. The hearers can create and share the playlist socially, search for new artists, and listen anytime, anywhere. This sounds interesting.

Mobile devices have brought a 360-degree revolution in the lives of humans. All the audience will agree with me on this. Let’s look at how it has affected the music industry in particular. With mobile phones, one can download a song, book a concert ticket, or make the recordings live in just a few seconds.  Smartphones have nailed in playing and downloading the music at ease.

But as it is said every development has its own positive and negative sides. The extensive usage of mobile phones and online music has hampered the music industry. The sufferers are none other than the artists in the music industry. The sale of the music market has dropped drastically, and this is because when people get to listen to the songs online, they don’t pay for the musical tracks. 

This creates an adverse impact on the musicians. We all will agree that valuable things need to be paid off, and yes music is an art that is indeed valuable. Don’t you think that musicians need to be paid off for their hard work? In my perception, yes, they should be paid the price they deserve.

Apart from the price issue, a significant problem is that the musicians are being promoted based on their popularity and the number of times their songs are being played by the audience. The artists whose song gets the maximum hits often is regarded as a widespread and prevalent musicians. This means that the musicians must know how to be tech-savvy, must be acquainted with the online platforms, and must know how to boost their tracks amongst the public.

With the overwhelming range of music available online, it becomes essential for the singers to adopt the appropriate approach to attract the audience by communicating with the fans socially.

Individualism and Self-expression are the two pillars on which the music business lies. Expressing yourself through music is an art, and that is what you mean by self-expression. Individualism is a firm root that denotes the originality of a particular person.

Postmodernism, individualism, themes, and rationalism are some of the factors that give new meaning and value that are the foundation stone of the entertainment industry and especially the music industry. Traditional songs of the 1950s and 1960s highlighted different themes, and the postmodern shift is in itself a reevaluation of the values and practices that usually give different viewpoints. Rationalism depends largely on decision-making. Securing the profits is the most obvious means, and it should not be that the artist is paying for everything. A logical conclusion must be made, which is right for everyone involved in composing a musical track.
