There has been an increase in COVID-19 cases. However, the increase in cases in summers remains less in comparison to previous coronavirus waves.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there have been 15,000 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in the Aug 19 week ending.

The data highlights the overall percentage increase is 19% from the previous week. This is supposed to be 6th week of the growing numbers in hospitalizations.

The variant that has been affecting residents in the US is EG.5 or eris. The World Health Organization (WHO) has wanted people about that the variant may also affect globally or may become dominant in some countries.

BA.2.86 is supposed to be the new variant that will be affecting people in future and may prove to be scary. However, this variant is not responsible for any rise in COVID-19 cases in the current situation.
